Frosia, une femme libre au goulag

Directed and written by Anne Georget, this film delves deeply into the art of documentary animation to tell the poignant story of Euphrosinia Kersnovskaïa, known as Frosia. In 1940, this young landowner living in Bessarabia, a region in Eastern Europe, was condemned to 18 years of wandering through the heart of the Gulag after the invasion of the USSR. At 33, this courageous woman offers us a heartbreaking testimony, one of a life marked by suffering but also by an exceptional inner strength.

This film does not simply recount the tragic events of Soviet history; it sheds light on Frosia’s humanity and resilience, telling a story that deserves to be shared. A touching work, a heartfelt tribute to the memory of those who lived through the horrors of the Gulag.
