The film traces the exceptional destiny of a family of Russian peasants enriched by the Industrial Revolution of the nineteenth century and which will know an immense glory, financing the arts, constituting an incredible collection of paintings and taking part in the economic, artistic and political life of its time, before sinking into excesses, madness and misery and finally being swept away by the swirls of history.
