Métronomies
Nathalie Bujold
Presented only in theatres / With the presence of the film crew
Nathalie Bujold pays tribute to the Hungarian composer György Ligeti, inspired by his 1962 musical work Poème symphonique, written for one hundred mechanical metronomes (preferably pyramid-shaped), a conductor and ten performers. Using moving-image samples of a single (pyramid-shaped) metronome, various visual patterns and rhythmic shapes are explored so as to “stage the sound.” A medley of these ensembles is offered here as an ode, like an unfolded quilt.
This film is part of the FIFA EXPERIMENTAL section program PERFORMANCES.
In presence of the director Nathalie Bujold on March 24, 2023 at Concordia University in Montreal
