Trailer
After ten years of war in her home country, Syrian director Houda Kassatly retraces the steps of her family in Aleppo. Between unspoiled neighbourhoods and destroyed houses, she presents the friezes, rosettes, and pediments of stone lace doors that testify to the city’s past refinement. As life resumes in the city, Kassatly is reassured by the preserved interior of the oldest hospital in the world, Bimaristan Arghoun, but nevertheless worried about the future face of Aleppo.

Houda Kassatly est ethnologue et photographe, responsable du programme culture de l’association arcenciel et chercheuse associée à l’Université Saint Joseph de Beyrouth et à l’Université de Balamand, au Liban. Elle a fondé la maison d’édition Al Ayn, spécialisée dans le patrimoine culturel et architectural du Liban et du Moyen-Orient. Auteure de nombreux ouvrages, dont plusieurs sur Beyrouth et sur l’architecture en terre au Liban et en Syrie, ses photographies ont fait l’objet de nombreuses expositions au Liban et à l’étranger.
