FIFA Expérimental - MANŒUVRES

FIFA Expérimental — MANŒUVRES

Presented only in theatres

FIFA EXPÉRIMENTAL is an out-of-competition, by-invitation section of the festival put together by visual and media arts curator Nicole Gingras, from Montreal. This selection highlights innovative approaches to film and video from the following angles: creative processes, modes of collaboration between artists in the production of a work, the workings of memory on identity, and the place of the individual in society. This ambitious panorama of exploratory cinema is composed of twenty-four works assembled into four programs. Each film, each video, bears a unique signature, and all the artists are privileged witnesses and revealing agents of their time and the events that shape it.

The FIFA Expérimental – MANŒUVRES program exposes the artists’ research activity, creative process, and relationship to the act of making — all manners of shaping time. Anne Goldens focus is on obsolete machines. Mathieu Arsenault and Charles-André Coderre modulate light, touch and sounds in real time. Christophe Delbecq invites us to discover the practice of artist Dirk Wauters for whom every gesture, systematically repeated on a daily basis, contributes to making time his ally.
