Goddess of Speed

A film titled Dance Movie (or, alternatively, Rollerskate) appears in many of Andy Warhol​’s filmographies, but no work bearing this title has been found in the archives. The lost film, featuring dancer Fred Herko, was shot in 1963. A year later, Herko danced out of an open window to his death to the sounds of Mozart​’s Coronation Mass in C major. Inspired by descriptions of the missing film, Goddess of Speed poetically reimagines the last days of the young dancer.
