Yenish Sounds
Martina Rieder, Karoline Arn
Trailer
Musician Stephan Eicher touts the Romani image and looks to his Yenish roots. His search concerning his origins bring him to the Grisons mountains, where his family once emigrated and partook in their legendary dancing music. The Yenish families have an unknown musical tradition that is very much alive; it breathes folkloric Swiss music, tickles the blues, bursts into song or revolts its way into punk. In this film directed by Karoline Arn and Martina Rieder, music shares the stage with a story of discrimination and persecution that reduced musicians to silence. A film about the secret behind a unique sound.
