This film is part of Silvana Fiorese’s Carte Blanche, responsible for the programming of the DART Festival in Barcelona.
During the development of the project for the rehabilitation of an old town, the architects Oscar Blasco and Sergi Carulla found in Castellfollit de la Roca (Catalonia) the last active basalt quarry in Spain. The documentary Picapedrers, is a journey through these stone landscapes and the people who inhabit it. But deep down, it talks about the origin of the materials that build our cities.

Kike Barberà
Kike Barberá has been active in film and television for a number of years. He has extensive experience as a director, filming both commissioned documentaries and artistic work. He has also directed eight short films. His films have been recognized with a number of awards. He has been a scriptwriter on Globo Media’s shows and has written the screenplays for the films Ras de Suelo (Fausto PC) and Son&Moon (Media Pro).

Oscar Blasco Sergi Carulla
Oscar Blasco and Sergi Carulla develop a research project on the landscape, which accompanies their professional practice as architects. Through narration and filming of small documentaries, they try to capture the link between the places they find and the people who inhabit them.
