Best Dance Film at the Cannes World Film Festival, Audience Award at the Zed Festival in Bologna, this is the latest project from one of today’s most inspiring performing artists, choreographer Hofesh Shechter. In his new video dance, he reflects on how death might be the best way to celebrate life, offering both meaning and perspective to existence.

Hofesh Shechter, OBE, is a renowned choreographer celebrated for his dynamic stage productions, blending influences from Israeli folk dance to rock gigs and film. Since 2008, his eponymous company has captivated audiences worldwide with immersive, high-energy performances set to percussive, cinematic scores composed by Shechter himself. Notable works include Political Mother” and Grand Finale,” both receiving critical acclaim and touring globally. Shechter is also committed to nurturing emerging talent, evident in initiatives like Shechter II. His versatility extends to choreographing for theatre, television, and opera, earning him accolades such as an honorary OBE and numerous awards for his groundbreaking contributions to dance.

Eric Gauthier

Eric Gauthier swiftly went from a captivating soloist with the Stuttgart Ballet to an esteemed international choreographer and the artistic director of Germany’s acclaimed Gauthier Dance/​/​Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart. His choreographic prowess has garnered attention from top dance companies globally, including Staatsballett Berlin, St. Petersburg Mariinsky Ballet, and others. Gauthier’s versatility extends beyond dance, as evidenced by his collaborations in stage shows, cinema, and fashion campaigns. He has also ventured into television as the presenter and dance expert for the SWR documentary series Dance Around the World.” Gauthier’s accolades include the German Dance Prize Future” in 2011 and recognition in specialist magazine tanz’s yearbook. Not content with just choreography, Gauthier has also curated successful festivals and spearheaded initiatives like the Dying Swans Project, which garnered international acclaim. Beyond his artistic endeavors, Gauthier remains committed to social causes, notably through initiatives like Gauthier Dance Mobile and the MOVES FOR FUTURE initiative. He has been honored with the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg and serves on the board of trustees of the Alzheimer’s Foundation Baden-Wuerttemberg.
