Rêves sonores — Swan Song

This video is presented as part of the free Pop-up programming from March 16 to 26, 2022 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm in the Tudor Hall at Holt Renfrew Ogilvy.
Rêves sonores’ single aptly titled Swan Song received a visual interpretation from the duo’s fellow collaborator Charline Dally composing collections of captured reflections of light and nature. Dally matches the haunting and harrowing blend of sax and strings into a kaleidoscopic prism shine of images from rolling wave motions of water to towering tree tops. At times the aperture bends and blurs so that image becomes obscured and out of focus that contributes to the overall otherworldliness of the audio/visual aesthetic in play. Rêves sonores invites you to fall into the innerworkings of a camera like an odyssey of magical realism. Swan Song lifts the listener upwards towards the heavens of the solar system in a sweeping mix of strings, subtle synths and brass that work in concert to create something symphonic and new. The video underscores the natural motifs of the song and those found throughout the rest of Crépuscule, providing an escapist portal to a secret garden of inexplicable enchantment.

Charline Dally est une artiste basée entre Lille (France) et les territoires non cédés de Montréal/Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang. Elle étudie actuellement au Fresnoy — Studio national des arts contemporains, suite à une formation en arts visuels à l’UQAM (Montréal). Sa pratique s’intéresse aux seuils perceptifs, aux subtiles nuances de couleur et de lumière, ainsi qu’à ces corps et à ces voix qui logent aux limites du visible. À l’aide des qualités propres aux médiums de la vidéo, de l’écriture et de la peinture, elle vise à adoucir les limites du regard pour le faire évoluer au-delà de la surface qui le porte. Son travail a été présenté au MOCA — Museum of Contemporary Art (Toronto), La Place des Arts (Montréal), MUTEK (Montréal et Buenos Aires+Barcelone), MEM (Bilbao), OMAF (Séoul), Noviembre Electrónico (Buenos Aires), et Les Abattoirs — FRAC Occitanie (Toulouse). Elle a réalisé des résidences artistiques à Signal Culture (Owego, NY), Eastern Bloc (Montréal) et à la SAT — Société des Arts Technologiques (Montréal).
