Trailer
The Sibelius Academy at the University of the Arts Helsinki is one of the few music schools that offer training for orchestra conductors. The film follows three promising students, I‑Han Fu from Taiwan, Emilia Hoving from Finland, and James Kahane from France, for three years, as they discover the demands of the profession. This film underlines the importance of apprenticeship and the creative process, while highlighting a sense of respect and emotional upheavals. It brings to light the complexity of the profession of conductor, which requires not only great technical mastery but also a sense of “conductivity” with all of the musicians.
