Trailer
Initiation is a hypnotic musical and cinematic experience in which every object has its own unique significance. The sophisticated visual form, saturated with artificial light and night shadows, sits perfectly with the corporeal expression of the dancers from the Polish Dance Theatre. Each of the black and white frames that comprise this short film emerges within a dreamlike story. Beyond the action of the dancers themselves, the viewer’s perception is strongly influenced by the movements of the camera as it cycles repeatedly back to the same positions. Human habitats, toxic relationships, and untamed fears are evoked through the image of the demons our characters battle against; demons that embody the social problems dominating today’s headlines. One of the dancers attempts their own “initiation,” or entrance into reality. How will it end?
