Lindsay Dances is an anthology of the life and career of Lindsay Kemp, one of the most influential British choreographers of his times. A dancer, actor, teacher, and mime, he influenced generations of artists, including Kate Bush and David Bowie. This unique documentary brings together the historic repertoire of the Lindsay Kemp Company’s shows from the late 1970s to the 1990s. It is enhanced by superb photographs of Kemp on stage, backstage, and in private life, taken by two internationally known photographers, Guido Harari and Richard Haughton. But what makes Lindsay Dances extraordinary is the light, spiritual, and captivating first-person account by Kemp himself. He discusses his theatre and his vision of the world in a brand-new interview by Rita Rocca that is both intimate and touching, filmed in Kemp’s house in Livorno. It was one of the last interviews he gave before his death on August 24, 2018.

Rita Rocca : journalist, director/film-maker. Correspondent on political talk shows Porta a Porta by Bruno Vespa and Ballarò by Giovanni Floris, and on Vita in diretta, the daily programme with Michele Cucuzza. Rocca is the creator behind Pianeta Energia, a documentary series for Rai Educational . She has also worked as a documentary-maker for the Rai 3 programmes C’era una volta and Scala Mercalli. In 2016, Rita Rocca won the Alfredino Rampi Literary Prize, with the story Io posso volare. Creator of the multimedia project Bowienext, she is also the film-maker and director of the programme In Scena — Bowienext Nascita di una galassia (Rai 5 — 2018). She is also creator and director of In scena — Lindsay Dances. Il Teatro e la vita secondo Lindsay Kemp (Rai5 – 2020). Rita Rocca is currently a radio host and journalist for GRRai.
