This film is part of Aseman Sabets Carte Blanche co-presented with MUTEK.

In this work which evokes animation strategies, registration points and motion vectors – which appear as arrows – calculate the future position of objects while a vehicle crosses a bridge. Conveying the contemplative experience of a computerized optical flow, La Traversée transports us into a world of otherness whose points of reference are nevertheless familiar. The work is part of the Manœuvres series which is inspired by technologies used by driverless cars and dash cam recordings. Through this series, François Quévillon plays with the tension that arises when confronting the programmed behaviours of mobile robotics with the unpredictable nature of the world.
