Louis Lortie — Chopin, les 27 Études
Kim Savoie-Thibault
Trailer
Frédéric Chopin often said the art of interpretation lies in the ability to “tell a piece” (“dire un morceau de musique”). This commitment couldn’t shine better through on Louis Lortie’s latest release of the complete Chopin etudes, captured in 2020 at Montreal’s iconic Bourgie Hall. With unique verve, finesse and sheer charisma, the incomparable Canadian pianist proves that virtuosity is never an end in itself, transforming each etude into a stunning tableau suffused with subtle details and a gorgeous rubato. A truly mesmerizing performance.
