A captivating insight into the career of Peggy Guggenheim (1898 – 1979), a vibrant personality in both feminism and the avant-garde. A wealthy and worldly American heir, art collector, and gallerist, she was a central figure in the modern art movement. Beyond her troubled personal life and her reputation as a man-eater,” her renown is built on her tireless support for several artists, even during the paroxysms of the 20th century, and on her unique flair for artistic choices. Among her circle were Samuel Beckett, Max Ernst, Jackson Pollock, Alexander Calder, and Marcel Duchamp. Contending with personal tragedy, she nonetheless realized her ambition to build one of the greatest collections of modern art.
