Forêts : Carte blanche au Studio Le Fresnoy et à la Galerie de l’UQAM
For its 42nd edition, Le FIFA is pleased to welcome the carte blanche Forêts from Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains and the Galerie de l’UQAM.
Across civilizations, forests hold a special place in landscape representations, whether seen as bucolic, picturesque, sublime, romantic, sacred, heritage-rich, or endangered. In the works of the artists presented here, forests embody the characteristics of living metamorphosis, impermanence as well as longevity, solidity as well as fragility. They offer a holistic vision of the world where there is no distinction between humans and their environment. These works encapsulate current complexities, be they historical, political, economic, or social.
