This film will be presented during the La Nuit du court event on March 22nd, 2025 at Concordia University.
Three artists work in parallel to translate, through sound and movement, the heart of a poem. They collaborate with life’s unexpected events — broken clotheslines, emptied pools, terminal diagnoses — and learn that what flows is not necessarily gone.
Director’s statement:
Creating with these two remarkable artists expands my sense of voice into its fullest being — swimming the poem, singing the poem, wearing the poem, flying it. It’s as if we are writing with our bodies and the page is whatever scene we are moving through – an empty pool, a race track, a hospital sheet. Our process together shows me how and where and why a poem can live and be lived: inside and outside all at once, hovering just above and below the furling, unfurling, crumpling page.
- Jennifer Still
In the presence of co-directors Chantel Mierau and Jennifer Still on March 22nd in Montreal.
