Under the cover of a peaceful forest, flowers suddenly catch fire and give birth to a mysterious ball of energy. Floating through the air, the small incandescent sphere moves through an increasingly dark ecosystem before transforming into a strange virtual universe.
Audrey St-Laurent wrote and directed Micromondes after several exploratory trips into the forest. Completely filmed in a studio, this dialogue-free short film is a contemplative reflection on our relationship with the ephemeral and our transition between the natural and digital worlds. Micromondes explores the connection between nature and simulation.

Ayant complété des études en arts visuels et médiatiques, Audrey St-Laurent a développé une pratique en photo et en vidéo, tout en conservant un aspect sculptural qui unit ses divers intérêts pour les nouvelles technologies et l’environnement. Sa passion pour le monde végétal l’a amenée à poursuivre des études en fleuristerie, puis à fonder sa propre entreprise, où elle a pu réaliser de nombreuses installations dans divers contextes événementiels et cinématographiques. Elle a ensuite travaillé comme styliste florale puis directrice artistique de plateau, pour finalement être représentée à L’ÉLOI, où elle travaille sur de nombreux tournages, maintenant à titre de réalisatrice. Elle développe en parallèle sa pratique en sculpture et en arts numériques, où elle explore les relations entre numérique et matérialité physique, à travers des enjeux écologiques. Micromondes est son premier film à titre de réalisatrice.
