The address 305 Bellechasse has had several lives. First a Catelli pasta factory, it was later home to artists’ studios, and it was finally sold to a real estate developer in 2018. The director wanted to bear witness to the rich creative life of some of the artists who had studios in the building. With rare access to these creators’ words, we learn about their artistic processes and their close bonds with their studios. At the same time, the film shows the importance and fragility of creative spaces in Montréal.

Réalisateur, scénariste et monteur, Maxime-Claude L’Écuyer a écrit et réalisé 7 courts métrages de fiction, dont La cloison, Suki et Squad Leader TD-73028 Soliloquy. Tous ont été présentés dans différents festivals tant au Québec qu’à l’international dont certains ont été primés, entre autres, Zsofika, a été récompensé par 8 prix. Il développe présentement un premier long métrage de fiction, Pentimento et vient tout juste de terminer son dernier court métrage Résonance produit par Parallaxes avec l’appui de la SODEC. 305 Bellechasse, dans l’intimité des ateliers est son premier long métrage documentaire.
